Skybus, part of Isles of Scilly Steamship Group is recruiting 2 x Aircraft Mechanics for our base at Lands End Airport. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager, at Lands End Airport.

This is a full-time position, offering a 40 hr week, on a shift rota system covering the flying hours, preparation and post flight checks.

 

About the role

The Mechanic will be providing engineering assistance for our fleet of DHC6-300 Twin Otter Aircraft and BN2 Islander Aircraft, to maintain the overall performance of the aircraft, maintenance operation and its personnel. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • To assist in the maintenance of aircraft, and aircraft equipment as allocated to their control. This includes line maintenance, and daily operational requirements of the aircraft.
  • Signing for maintenance activities performed during shift operations.
  • The ground movements of aircraft.
  • To ensure the correct and timely completion of all aircraft documentation relating to the maintenance activities performed.
  • Ensure work areas are always kept clean and tidy.
  • Evaluate all existing standards, practices, and procedures with a view to continuous improvement and efficiency

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required

Previous experience within an aircraft maintenance department is highly desirable. Further to this, any aircraft maintenance experience, base/workshops is also desirable.

Experience of engineering of any type may be considered.

Required:

  • Engineering experience
  • Full UK driving licence  
  • You must hold the right to work in the UK
